Civic-minded individuals who believe that a unified community that faces modern challenges can affect real, lasting change formed the Greater Independence Park Neighborhood Association, GIPNA. The previous community group, The Parkview Civic Association disbanded in the 1970s due to a lack of participation. Ironically, their motto was “Progress through Participation.” GIPNA still believes in that motto. MISSION STATEMENT The Greater Independence Park Neighborhood Association, GIPNA, is dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the quality of life in the Independence Park community by involving, informing and encouraging people to participate in matters relating to the community, and by protecting the historical, social, cultural, and architectural character of the neighborhood.
